WELCOME TO TROOP 1818 GEORGIA
Scouts BSA (formerly Boy Scouts of America) is a year-round leadership development and outdoor education program for youth in the sixth through twelfth grade (or who are 11-17 years old). Troop 1818 is a Jewish Scout troop working with young people from North Atlanta, Roswell, Johns Creek, Alpharetta, East Cobb, Sandy Springs, Decatur and Dunwoody .
HOW DOES SCOUTING WORK?
Scouts learn by planning activities and leading their peers. Pitch a tent. Climb a rock wall. Ride mountain bikes. Hike through the backcountry. Scouts develop their own exciting outdoor program, and are responsible for achieving their own goals. Check out our FAQ for a more complete understanding of how Troop 1818 works.
HOW IS JEWISH SCOUTING DIFFERENT?
Troop 1818 is a Scouting program with a Jewish twist. When we camp, we celebrate Shabbat and Havdalah. Scout philosophies, like respecting nature and service projects, mesh beautifully with our Jewish teachings of Tzedaka and Tikun Olam. We are "kosher style" at our functions. We tend to attract families that are Reform Conservative or unaffiliated.
WHAT WE DO FOR FUN
In Troop 1818, activities have included; hiking, camping, fishing, rafting, cooking, sailing the Florida Keys, zip lining, first aid, lifesaving and more.
But scouting is actually much bigger than the “fun” stuff. There is also leadership training, organizational training, ethics and morals, teamwork, service projects to the community... all disguised as activities.
